CAP. XXIX.
[verse 1] And kyng Dauid spak to al the chirche, God hath chose Salomon, my sone, ȝit a child [a child; not of xii. ȝeer, but tendir in com|parisoun of so greet a werk. Lire here. CG KQb.] and tendre; forsothe the werk is greet [grete, that he is ordeyned to do S.] , and a dwellyng is not maad redi [redi therynne I.] to man [man only S.] but to God. [verse 2] Sotheli [Certis IS.] Y in alle my myȝtis haue maad redi the costis of the hows of my God; gold to goldun vessels, siluer in [Om. ISX.] to siluerne vessels, bras in [Om. IS.] to brasun vessels, irun in to irun ves|sels, tre [and trees I.] in [Om. S.] to trenun [treen IMSX.] vessels, onychyn [onychym; thei haue the licnesse of mannus nail. C.] stonys, and stonys as of the colour of wymmens oynement, and ech precious stoon of dyuerse colouris, and marbil of dyuerse colouris, most plenteuously. [verse 3] And ouer these thingis Y ȝyue gold and siluer in to the temple of my God, whiche [the whiche I.] Y offride [haue offrid IS.] of my propir catel in to the hows of my God, outakun these thingis whiche [whiche he hadde take of the preyes of enemyes. GKQS.] [verse 4] Y made [haue maad IS.] redi in to the hooli hows, thre thousynde talentis of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and seuene thousynde of talentis of siluer most preuyd, to ouergilde the wallis [verse 5] of the temple; and werkis be maad bi the hondis of crafti men, where euere gold is nedeful, of [be the werk maad of IS.] gold, and where euere siluer is nedeful, of [be it maad of S.] siluer; and if ony man offrith bi his fre wille, fille [fulfille IS.] he his hond to dai [dai, that is, take he now his offring S.] , and offre he that that he wole to the Lord. [verse 6] Therfor the princes of meynees, and the duykis of the lynagis of Israel, and the tribunes, and the centuriouns, and the princes of the possessiouns of the [verse 7] kyng, bihiȝten [bihiȝten to ȝiue therto I. bihiȝten to ȝeue ȝiftis to the temple S.] ; and thei ȝauen in to the werkis of the hows of the Lord, fyue thousynde talentis of gold, and ten thou|synde
