[verse 4] Ther|for Dauid took a thousynde foure [of foure IS.] horsid cartis of his, and seuene thousynde of horsmen, and twenti thousynde of foot men; and he hoxide [oxide, that is, he kitte asonder the houȝ senues of S.] alle the horsis of charis [the charis IS.] , outakun an hundrid foure horsid cartis, whiche [the whiche I.] he kepte to hym silf. [verse 5] For|sothe [And IS.] also Sirus of [prince of IS.] Damask cam aboue, to ȝyue help to Adadezer, kyng of Soba, but Dauid smoot also of hise [Syrus IS.] two and [verse 6] twenti thousynde of men; and he [Dauid IS.] set|tide [sette IS.] kniȝtis in Damask, that Sirie also schulde serue hym, and brynge [bryng to him S.] ȝiftis. And the Lord helpide hym [Dauid IS.] in alle thingis to whiche he ȝede. S.] , that Dauid hadde smyte al the oost of Adadezer, [verse 10] kyng of Soba, he sente Aduram, his sone, to Dauid the kyng, for to axe of hym pees, and for to thanke hym, for he hadde ouercome and hadde [Om. IS.] smyte Adadezer; for whi king Adadezer was aduersarie of Thou. [verse 11] But also kyng Dauid halewide to the Lord alle the vessels of gold, and of siluer, and of bras; and the siluer, and the gold, which the kyng hadde take of alle folkis, as wel of Idumee and Moab [of Moab C.] , and of the [alle the IS.] sones of Amon, as of Filisteis and Amalech [of Amalech C.] . Cere|thie and Phele|thie weren moost tauȝt fiȝters, and thei werin kepers of Da|uith heed.] ; sotheli the sones of Dauid weren the firste at the [Om. S.] hond of the kyng.
