CAP. XVII.
[verse 1] Forsothe whanne Dauid dwellide in his hows, he seide to Nathan, the prophete, Lo! Y dwelle in an hows of cedris [cedris, that is, ful perdurable S.] ; so|theli [and IS.] the arke of boond of pees of the Lord is [is hilid IS.] vndur skynnys. [verse 2] And Nathan seide to Dauid, Do thou alle thingis that ben in thin herte, for God is with thee. [verse 3] Therfor in that nyȝt the word of the Lord [verse 4] was maad to Nathan, and seide, Go thou, and speke to Dauid, my seruaunt, The Lord seith these thingis, Thou schalt not [verse 5] bilde to me an hows to dwelle in [Om. plures.] ; for [certis IS.] Y `dwellide not [haue not dwellid I.] in an hows, fro that tyme in which Y ledde Israel out of the lond of Egipt til [Om. X.] to this dai, but euere Y chaungide [haue chaungid IS.] places [place X.] of tabernacle [the tabernacle IS.] , and dwellide [haue dwellid IS.] in a tente with al Israel. [verse 6] Where I spak [haue spoke I. haue not spoke S. spac not X.] nameli to oon of the iugis of Is|rael, to which I comaundide [comaunde A.] that thei schulde fede my puple, and seide, Whi `bildidist thou not [hast thou not bildid IS.] to me an hous of cedre? [verse 7] Now therfor thou schalt speke thus to my seruaunt Dauid, The Lord of
