[verse 4] And whanne a thousynde and seuene hundrid kniȝtis [horse men I.] of his part weren takun, and twenti thou|synde of foot men, Dauid hoxide [kitte the hoxes of I.] alle `drawynge beestis [the beestis drawynge I.] in charis; but Dauid lefte of tho an hundrid charis, that is, the horsis of an hundrid charis. [verse 14] And he [Dauid I.] settide [sette I.] keperis in Ydumee, and ordeinede strong hold, and al Ydumee was maad seruynge to Dauid; and the Lord kepte Dauid in alle thingis, to whateuer thingis he ȝede forth. [verse 15] And Dauid regnede on [upon I.] al Israel, and Dauid dide doom, and riȝtfulnesse [riȝt|wisnesse I.] to al his puple. [verse 16] Forsothe [And I.] Joab, the sone of Saruy, was ouer the oost [oost of Dauid I.] ; sotheli [and I.] Josa|phat, sone [the sone I.] of Achilud, was chaunceler [chaunceler; in Ebreu it is, recordour. C.] ; [verse 17] and Sadoch, sone [the sone I.] of Achitob, and Achy|melech, sone [the sone I.] of Abiathar, weren preestis; and Saraye was scryuyn [a scribe I.] . [verse 18] Forsothe [But I.] Ba|nanye, sone [the sone I.] of Joiada, was ouer Cerethi and Pherethi, that is, ouer archeris and arblasteris [arowblasters ELP.] ; sotheli [and I.] the sones of Dauid weren prestis [the sones of Dauyth weren prestis; that is, grettere men in dignete, ether the firste to onours; for it may not be seid that thei weren prestis propirly, mynystringe in the taber|nacle, for thei weren not of the kyn of Aaron.
