[verse 2] Therfor whanne Gabaonytis [men of Gabony I.] weren clepid, the kyng seide to hem; sotheli Gabaonytis [men of Gabony I.] ben not of the sones of Israel, but [Om. I.] thei ben the relikys [leeuyngis I.] of Ammorreis [Ammorey I.] ; and the sones of Israel hadden swore to hem, `that is [Om. [verse 12] And Dauid ȝede, and took the boonys of Saul, and the boonys of Jonathas, his sone, of [fro I.] the men of Jabes of Galaad; that [whiche I.] hadden stole tho boonys fro the street of Bethsan, in which street [Om. I.] the [Om. EI.] Filisteis hadden hangid hem, whanne thei hadden slayn [slawe I.] Saul in Gelboe. [verse 13] And Dauid bar out fro thennus the boonys of Saul, and the boonys of Jonathas, his sone; and thei gaderiden [gaderiden to gidre I.] the boonys of hem that weren crucified, and birieden [thei birieden I.] tho with the boonys of Saul and of Jonathas, his sone, in the lond of Beniamyn, in the side of the sepulcre of Cys, fadir [the fadir I.] of Saul. [verse 14] And thei diden al thingis, what euer thingis [Om. I.] the kyng comaundide [comaundide hem I.] ; and the Lord dide mercy to the lond aftir these thingis. [verse 15] Forsothe batel of Filisteis [the Philistees I.] was

maad eft aȝens Israel; and Dauid ȝede doun, and hise seruauntis with hym, and fouȝten aȝen Filisteis [the Philistees I.] . [verse 18] Also the secounde batel was in Gob aȝens Filisteis; thanne Sobo|thai of Osothai smoot Zephi, of the gene|racioun of Arapha, of the kyn of giauntis. [verse 19] Also the thridde batel was in Gob aȝens Filisteis; in which batel a man ȝouun of God [a man ȝouun of God; that is, Dauyth, that was chosun of God, and ȝouun to the gouer|nail of the pu|ple, as in I. book xvi. c^o. the sone of fo|rest; for he dwellide longe in wodis fle|ynge fro the face of Saul. a broidrerer; for he cam of the kyn of Beseleel, that was principal in the werk of broiderie of the tabernacle. [verse 22] These foure [foure geauntis I.] weren borun of Arapha in Geth, and thei felden doun in the hond of Dauid, and of hise seruauntis.
