[verse 10] Therfor [And so I.] Isai brouȝte [brouȝte forth I.] hise seuene sones bifor Samuel; and Samuel seide to Ysai, The Lord hath `not chose [chose noon I.] of these. [verse 11] And Samuel seide to Isai, Whether thi sones ben now fillid [fulfillid I.] ? [the Spirit of the Lord; that is, the spirit of strengthe and of stidefast|nesse, to dely|uere the puple; wherfor it is seid in xvii. co. that Dauid vn|armed ȝede stidefastly and wilfuly, to fiȝte aȝenus the Fi|listey. Sothely Jerom seith, that fro that day the spirit of profesie was in Dauyth, and fro that tyme he began to singe salmes, and this ac|cordith to the seiyng of hem, whiche seyen that he made that salm, Do|minus illumi|nacio mea, in his anoynting. And Samuel seide to Isai, Sende thou [ȝe I.] , and brynge hym [hym hidere I.] ; for we schulen not sitte to mete, bifor that he come hidur. [verse 12] Therfor [Thanne I.] Ysai sente, and brouȝte hym; sotheli he was rodi, and fair in siȝt, and of semely face. And the Lord seide, Rise thou, and anoynte hym; for [forsothe I.] it is he. [verse 13] Therfor Sa|muel took the horn of oyle, and anoyntid hym in the myddis of his britheren; and the Spirit of the Lord [and seide, in his herte. Lire here. [verse 14] And so the Spirit of the Lord ȝede [wente I.] awei fro Saul, and a [the I.] wickid spirit of the Lord trauelide Saul.
