Þat þou was of mi body born!" Vnto hir þan said Jhesu fre: "Moder, blith now loke þou be Line 300 And of no thing haue þou no drede! For with mi-self I sall þe lede; Whare I am king, þou sall be quene, With more blis þan men may mene. And be noght ferd in þi passing, Line 305 For þou sal se none euil thing — Of no thing sall tou se ne here Bot of me and mine angels clere. And, moder, for þe luf of þe I sall haue mercy and pete Line 310 Of all man-kind, for þi prayere, [T al.] Þat suld be lorn, if þou ne were; And wha þe honors in word or dede, Of me sall þai haue þaire mede." Þan said Mari, his moder fre: Line 315 "Of all sons blisced mot þou be, And blisced be þe time, euin and morn, Þat þou was of my body born!" Þan lifted he his haly hand [T hay st. haly.] And blisced hir, als alweldand. Line 320 Þan cald he Mighell him unto And said him how þat he suld do: "Þou, and þi felaus all infere, Luke ze zeme wele my moder dere!" Þan scho transed þare als fast, Line 325 And þe saul fra þe body past. And angels war þare ful redy To kepe hir in þair company, And bare hir saul to blis of heuin, [T bare, H bere.] With more mirth þan men mai neuyn. Line 330 And hastili when scho come þare, Al þe saintes þat þar ware Honord hir halely bidene, And þare þan was scho corond que(ne). [T u. H que.] And with hir sun so þare scho dwells Line 335 Obouen al halows and angels.

When Mari saul, als I said are, [in H u. T ist an Mari es ausrad.] Was redy unto heuyn at fare, Þan to saint Peter said Jhesus: "Peter, he said, I bid þe þus, Line 340 Þat þou zeme wele on al manere [T all.] Þe body of mi moder dere. Of hir body was I born, For-þi I will noght, it be lorn Ne þat none do it velany. Line 345 Þarfore vnto þe cumand I, Þou tak þi felaws al to þe [T all.] And help hir body to beried be; [H bereed.] To þe vale of Josaphath ze wend And beri hir þare with zowre hend, Line 350 And gose with faire processioune Thurgh Jherusalems toune; Sing ze sall on faire manere, And foure of zou sal bere þe bere! And of none enmise drede haue ze, Line 355 For I sal all-way with zow be, And fra all wathes I sall zow were, So þat none enmis sall zow dere." Þan gaf he þam all his blissing And went to heuyn, whare he es king. Line 360 Þai gederd samin with hert glad And toke þe bere, als he þam bad, And bare it thurgh þe cete With ful grete solempnite, With tapers and with torches clere, Line 365 Ilk man on þaire best manere; With þam went many of hir kin And all hir frendes, more and min. Þe iewes, when þai herd þis sang, Asked ilkaman oþer omang, Line 370 Wat was al þat din bidene [T what.] And what þat mekill noise might mene. Þai said, þe appostels all in-fere Bare Mari body opon a bere. Þan iewes war wonder tene Line 375 And þus-gat said þai all bi-dene: "Allas, þai said, for werldes schame! And scho be biried, we er to blame! [H birred.] Ilk man tak wapin strang, And gowe tak þam als þai gang Line 380 And cast þam ilk-one in þe mire And brin þe body in a fire!
