Unidentified ALS to Unidentified, August 19, 1894

Lydia Maria Child Papers, 1831-1894 [Box 1, Folder 76]

I believe edited some kind of a newspaper. The conversation at table was varied- Mr. S. told us awful tales about his acquaintance with lepers. Annie instructed us as to the enthusiasm we ought to feel for "Trilby" Mr. Turner told us just what and how much he ate of puddings and vegetables, and no meat, when he was about painting a picture, - also just what kind of spunges he uses to wash down his sketches - and I was chiefly a sympathetic listener. After dinner, Sterling made his appearance and Mr. Turner showed us various sketches - I liked best one in his own garden in Salem. But he says he has entirely changed his style - he is "tired to death of the old way" - He sent many messages to you - the only one of any consequence is, that he wishes you would look at the Munich photo or [hit?] places and bring him any catalogues you can find of photographs {written perpendicularly in the left margin} [?] is anxious you might know that she loves the photos you sent her, and sends love & thanks. {end perpendicular writing}
