Dear Friend

I really know not what to make of
Critchlow. The people and neighbors gave him
a very high character for integrity, capability and
thrift, and I cannot yet persuade myself that
he means to be a rogue. Still it seems to be
about time to take some decisive action.
I wish, with the evidence before you, you
would give us such advice as your trained
sagacity and natural experience suggest.
Then we shall be able to make up our minds
with more confidence.
