[Lydia] Maria [Child] ALS to Ellis Gray Loring, August 28, [1853]
Lydia Maria Child Papers, 1831-1894 [Box 1, Folder 51]
West Newton, Aug. 28th, Dear Friend, After I returned home, I thought a good deal about dear Louisa's accident, and her marvellous escape. Then I imagined how dark, dark, would have been the cloud over my soul, if the accident had been fatal; and I was siezed with an inexpressible yearning to see her blessed face. What if David and I should come down some time next week? Should we be much in the way? A man called here last week to look at the house. He said he was sent by you. If he purchases, will he want to move in before winter? I should like to know, on account of my furniture.
