L[ydia] Maria Child ALS to Ellis Gray Loring, February 17, 1850
Lydia Maria Child Papers, 1831-1894 [Box 1, Folder 45]
matters together. I am lightly tied to life, and would fain depart before old age comes upon me. Excuse me for not sooner acknowledging the receipt of the $200. For the last four weeks, I have had a great deal to trouble and confuse me, and take up my time; which I will explain to you when I see you. We are all well here. John and Rosa are as much taken up with each other as ever. One of her brothers, who has obtained a situation as clerk in this city boards here now; and I have given up one of my two attic rooms to him. Frank Shaw and Sarah return to Rox- -burg in the Spring, and a good deal of my small stock of sunshine will go with them. I like them better and better the more I know them. They are as truthful as the daylight. If any of my relatives leave packages for me at your office, please not send them. They are usually of no importance. The last package contained some scraps of vestings, which I did not want, and cost me quarter of a dollar. If more come, let them stay till I call for them. Did Anna get her slippers safe?
