L[ydia] Maria Child ALS to Anna Loring, January 13, 1847
Lydia Maria Child Papers, 1831-1894 [Box 1, Folder 38]
Cows were frisking about, and ducks frolicking in the water. We sat much of the day with open windows, and trudged home by the brightest of moonlight. On my piano, I found a most exquisite vase, of Hebe pattern, placed there by my sweet friend Susan Lyman, who had contrived to obtain the key of my room, in my absence. I do not deserve that people should be so good to me. I have not yet sent the presents to the Gibbons family. I will do it, tomorrow, and write mother about it. Good night, God bless you, dear "child of my heart." Your affectionate L. Maria Child.
