[Lydia] Maria [Child] ALS to Anna Loring, January 5, 1845
Lydia Maria Child Papers, 1831-1894 [Box 1, Folder 31]
New York, Jan. 5'th, 1845 Dear Anna, I thank you most affection- -ately for your beautiful bag. The colors are chosen with admirable taste, and I think it altogether the handsomest bag I ever saw. It happened, too, that I was sadly in want of a bag. Mine were all old and worn. They looked as if they came out of the ark, and would gladly find their way back again, away from the storms of the world. Tell dear father and mother that I thank them cordially for their present. I never saw so beautiful a specimen of daguerrotype. I intended to send you the Broadway Journal, a new paper, in which I make a prominent figure; but John says he sent it yesterday. I rely upon you and brother Convers to admire every- -thing I write, be it what is will.
