me; though I doubt if ever that would. Speaking of Ole Bul, I was much amused the other day, when Friend Hopper came into my parlor, and spied his engraved likeness. "Who has that pleasant, in- -nocent countenance"? asked he. When I told him, he replied, "Well it is a good countenance. I should like to see him, and have a little talk with him about his religious opinions. His profession seems to be a light and frivolous one." The idea of Ole Bul and Friend Hopper sitting down to a cozy dish of Trinity and Atonement, seemed very laughable to me. I was extremely interested in Anna Parson's account of Washington Allston. It was most beautiful - worthy of its theme. Did Mr. Pierpont tell you what she said of him? It is strikingly descriptive. A gentleman, unknown to me, called on the agent of the Boston Courier, Mr. Foster, and asked for one of my M.S. letters to place in the hands of the Rev. Mr Kent, whose state is said to be similar to that of Anna Parsons. Mr. Foster told him he would give him some letters, without telling him whose they were. He afterward {written perpendicularly in the right margin} Best love to Anna, and to Augusta; me ever yours, with abounding love, L.M.C. {end perpendicular writing}
