L[ydia] M[aria] C[hild] ALS to Louisa Loring, December 22, 1841

Lydia Maria Child Papers, 1831-1894 [Box 1, Folder 11]

anything more likely to be acceptable. I should dearly love to look in upon you. But, after all, I don't care much about coming to Boston, without I can stay two months. I hope the Kings wont despise my little offering. I bought John's for fun; and then I thought some tasteful little seals would answer, as well as a larger present, to show the girls I thought of them affec- -tionately; and would likewise have the great advan- -tage of not making them feel as if they were much of a present. I like little sentimental present myself, better than those that cost much; because I want to feel under obligation to my friends' hearts rather than their purses. I want to write more, but am in such haste to get my packages ready for Friend Hopper, that I must leave off, with a hearty God bless you, for you and your dear household. I think I never thought of you with so much tenderness, as this winter. I wish we were nearer together. Yrs affectionately, L. M. Child. P.S. I send a N. York Bill, because I have no other, but if you cannot pass it without discount, make an exchange with Friend Hopper on his return.
