Mrs. Carter requested me, when I was at Northampton, to ask you to purchase a Liberty Bell for her at The Fair, and send it to her. She said old Mrs. Loring owed her three dollars, and you might take your pay out of that. If C. P. Huntingdon is now representative, I think you can eas- ily send it to her; for he goes home frequently. I send $1 with which I wish to buy a Liberty Bell for one of Friend Hopper's daughters. I don't know the price; but if there is any balance, you may send me a moderate- -sized doll, or some kind of a jumping Jack, or jumping monkey, for James Gibbons' youngest girl, about two years old. I have trotted about in the mud to get something for the old lady; but darkness overtook me, after two hours search; so I must put it off till another opportunity. I wish I knew what would please her. I wish you would give my most grateful remembrance to her, and tell her I shall never forget the good care she has taken of me so many times. I send an Anti-Slavery Scrap Book, as my trifling donation to the Fair. I could not think of
