[Lydia] Maria [Child] ALS to [Anna Loring], January 15, 1841
Lydia Maria Child Papers, 1831-1894 [Box 1, Folder 8]
The fact is, the little folks are growing so wise and so learned now-a-days, that we old folks can not presume to understand them. Do you remember "this is perpendicular, and this is palallel"? Give my love to Miss Kitty, and tell her it is very undignified to cry mew so much. When you have nothing else to do, and can't sleep, I hope you will write to me. I think this will happen soon; for I am sure the clock always seems to you too fast when it is bed time. Now what is the reason the clock seems faster in the evening than in the morning? Ah that is a great mystery, Nony! Should you live to be fifty years old, perhaps you will not understand it clearly. Your affectionate Aunt Maria. {address} AEmoniana Lydia Maria Child Jan 5 {end address} {docket} Jan 41 {end docket}
