Haverhill 18th, July 1776

Sir

I have not had oppo: since my return
here till now, to write you respect_g the Salt
pork to be reserv'd for the Use of the Companys
that may come this way—and am yet at a
Loss what Direction to give—no orders having
arriv'd with us to make provision for any
Number, but we are hourly expecting it—as
its probable some part of these Companys may
be taken from your Regiment, you will un
-doubtedly have oppo. to supply the men on the
Spot, wch. will save the Transport—I am told
Major Child is expected up from Exeter & that
he may bring the orders for the purpose, wch. I
shall be glad to hear—our people from the lower
