Dr. Charles Wesley Answers Bishop Ransom; Denies Charges WILBERFORCE. < (ANP) ~ ~Statements by Bishop Ransom about the status of Wilberforce and its president. are collections of incorrections, exaggerations ~and -untruths,~ declared Dr. Charles H. Wesley, president of Wilberforce university, here Monday. Dr. Wesley was referring to the charges which Bishop Reverdy C. Ransom. chairman of the school~s board of. trustees, made last week in Philadelphia chief cause or the institution~s losing its North Central associatien accreditation.~ Bishop Ransom cited that out of 20 ~points of weakness,~ the chief criticism was that the school had ~too many members of the same family on its teaching staff.~ The bishop pointed out that the school currently has 24 related persons, 21 of whom were:brought in after Dr. Wesley~ ascended to the ~Presidency in 1942. In presenting his side of the Mass Meeting Planned Here The Association plans to hold ~@ mass meeting at the Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle on Sunday, May 18th at 3:30 p.m. The Famous Silvertone Gospel Chorus will render the program. The M & S team is in tact with only a few new faces and, promises to be the best team ever before organized with the great. pitching arm of. Charles Justice. Spirit Chrystalizing For Oregon Lake Park The Oregon Lake Park Association is highly elated over the chrystalization of the spirit on the part of Flint citizens for Oregon Lake Park. -Much help has been proffered by citizens, financial and otherwise. The Association would like to say to plenty for everyone to do. A letter is being prepared to send to all clubs, leagues and associations. Later one will be sent to all business places as well as: all business men. Their aid will be most solicitously sought. The Oregon Lake Park plan is drawn iwith such elasticity that every man, woman and child ean share in its development. LEACH, oe Flint, Re-Elected Lay Delegate to 1948 AME General Conference, Los Angeles, Calif, Dr, J. Li Leach, of Flint, Mich igan, Lay Delegate from the Quinn Chapel AME Church, was one of the eight delegates elected at the AME Electorial College held at Lansing, Michigan, May 7th, 1947, The Laymén elected will represent the Mi~higan Conference of the Fourth Episcopal District of the AME Church a@ the 33rd Quadrennial Session of the A. M. E. Church to be held at Los Angeles, California next - May, 1948. Dr, Leach served during the 32nd Quadrennial Session which met at Philadelphia, Pa., in 1944 vhen the Rev. George W. Baber and the Rev. John H, Clayborne were clevated to the Bishopric. Those elected at the College, were: Atty. Herbert Dudley, Atty. Chas, Willis, Mr. Wm. Entzminger, Mrs Rosa Cragg, Dr, J, L. All Americans, and~ enjoying the right of freedom ~of expression and mostly ~free speech. This, I know you are well aware of, is part of the ideals of liberty for which our flag stands. Frankly, I would like to know their present occupations, as I am sure you are a true reflection of ypur parents as I also am. Undoubtedly you will have the same free life as your forefathers, but not as they established it, unless you make slaves out of the Russians as your forefathers did out of the Negro. peoples. You see, congress: is giving money to. non-Russian governments and you might have to bear the brunt, or I should say Richard might have to fight them, and after conquering them bring them here for some type of work.
