Bibles The Flint Territorial Union, an organization comprising the missionary societies:of most of the Baptist churches: of the city, is donating Bibles to six churches. This is being made possible by efforts that have been sponsored by the union and its Junior body the. Young Matrons of Flint. The following churches will receive Bibles: Antioch, Macedonia, New Zion, Golden Leaf, Gallilee and Mt. Olive. The Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle will receive: hymnals. The Chorus was accompanied by Mrs. Gwenola Smith, their trainer. Mrs. Srnith has been long known in musica] circles in Flint. This chorus is a testimonial to her fine talents. Pro-Semite, Pro-Negro What Js Mezzrow has done should be done by some of the influential men of Flint just for one month then perhaps the need for a State and National FEPC would vanish forever. Mezzrow is~ Jewish, but because of his love for hot music, generally passed over into the Négro race~marrying a Negro woman, and fathering a colored child. His life story can be obtained from the book entitled ~Really the Blues,~ published by Random House. Discussion Group Adopts Constitution At a meeting of the group Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Flint Jr. College, the constitution was presented: by the constitution committee composed of Claybourne Mitchell, Don Beach and Charles Mills. After minor alterations the constitution was Passed and it was decided that the name will be chosen for the group at the next meeting. A committee was also appointed to secure a speaker for the next meeting. The group will ~meet the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month. The devil.is getting his due in|. Palestine. This means that instead of being the main spokes of the labor | wheel, the major unions will be come the wheel. The average citizen wonders why this merger has not been completed. The merging of labor into one party would well change the political picture but getting most of the union members to see this is like trying to work an old mule, who, after his fill of hay, cares for nothing else. Business And Professional League Holds Meeting The Negro Professional and Businessmen~s league met at the FICC Tuesday ~nite. The President J. D. Shock reported that the league had donated a check for $100 to the league of Women Voters, and it was decided that the next meeting will be a Tuncheon held at the Elk~s Rest and all members are. urged to bring at least one _ potential member with him. John Young Guest Speaker: est Speaker; Many Attend The Flint Underwriters composed of agents of the Superior, Supreme and Great Lakes Insurance companies held their first annual banquet at the Flora Lea Lounge Thursday nite. A beautifully decorated table providéd the setting for the delicious chicken dinner prepared by Mrs: I. Beck, assisted by Mr. and Mrs. E. Raymond. Atty. |. John F. Young was the guest speaker who very vividly. impressed the Underwriters of the important~ part they play~ in the progress of the community. Atty. Young very vividly explained the beginning of insurance and explained the various pitfalls along the road to success. The Flint ~Underwriters were very much impressed with his timely message on the eve of the Negro Insurance Drive. ~ The, Flint Underwriters have chosen for their slogan ~A Negro Insurance: in Every Home.~ Mr. W. C. Ross of the Supreme Liberty Life Insurance company acted as Master of Ceremonies, ably assisted by Mr. J. W. Tweddie of the Superior Life Insurance Company, and timely re marks.were...rendered by Mr, accomplished dramatist, held the audience speechless. with her recitation of ~The Negro Mother~ by L. Hughes and ~What Time Is This~ by E. Taylor. Insurance Underwriters from Grand Rapids, Saginaw and Port Huron were present for the banquet. Preceding the banquet. the group played cards and danced with everyone having an enjoyable evening. Group Secures War Service Henor Roll The Industrial Avenue Neighborhood Improvement League announces that it has paid the final installment upon the War Service honor roll that is to be erected on the Industrial Ave., side of the track. This feat was made possible through the gererous efforts and donations of ~Mr. Don McKenzie, of the Richard Theatre and a donation from ~Chub: 43."
