LA CHATEAU The La Chateau, the leak dibiaae> ters for banquets, was the scene of many private parties over the week end with everyone enjoying the superb cooking and pleasant surroundings. SPORTSMAN CLUB The Sportsman Club added another success to their.. Social Event Calendar with the successful Family party for members and guests only. The affair was held at the Home Dairy and mu weather it is quite the contrary; it is more like the first of winter than the first of spring, but with weather permitting there are plenty of activities planned for the social season with the coming Pre-Easter Matinee Sunday at the Royal Gardens fram 4 P.M. ~til 9 P.M. given by the 730 Social and Arts Club, and a gala Style show given by the Debutantes at the YWCA Sunday, which promises to be an affair not to be missed. Also the Sportsmen Club after a very successful family party at the Home Dairy, (see pg. 7 for pictures) steps back into the spotlight with a grand Pre-Easter Dance to be given at the Armory on the 5th of April. Mrs. Bertha Brent, of Chicago, is visiting friends in Flint. She is the house guest of Mr. and Mrs. Burton, of Liberty St. Misses Marion Coates and Doris Howard spent the weekend in Ann Arbor, Miss Howard~s home. While there they | were the dinner guest of Mr.: Ollie McLaughlin. After dinner ' pictures were taken by a pho-;tographer from the Thayer Studios of Detroit. They also attended Allen. Education | Due ~to the many critical prob- | lems confronting the school | board in the coming months we| feel that the most competent person best qualified for the job should be chosen and we feel in Mr. Everett Cummings we will have the best man qualified for the position, Mr. Everett Cummings, 36 vr. old, Auditor at the Citizens Com- | mercial and Savings Bank. He is married and has one daughter attending Ziminerman School. Mr. Cummings was past President of and has been active in numerous affairs of the Junior Chamber of Commerce. He war winner of the USJCC Distinguished service award in 1943. Winner of the A. G. Bishop Merit Cup in 1944, He also won the Jaycee Key Man Key. He is now serving his 2nd term as Pres. of Flint Youth Bureau. Mr. Cummings was vice-chairman of the Recreational Division of the Council of Social Agencies and Vice Chairman of -the Veterans Clearing House. He is a very active worker on Community Fund Drives. Mr. Cummings was urged to become a candidate for the board of Educatian by many of his friends who feel that he has the qualifications.necessary to help solve our school problems. Every one must admit that this problem has been plaguing us too long and we are sorely in need of someone who will help relieve it. The Flint Spokesman feels that in Mr. Everett Cummings we will have that person, and we urge you to go to the polls on the 7th of~ April and be sure to vote for |.
