Leading at-| tractions of the week was the gala pre-St. Patrick's Day dance at the Royal: Gardens last Saturday nite, with the distinguished Flint Amateur Club as -host. Two hundred or more persons came out to join} in:~on the fun. A delightful floor! show handled under the capable | Suidance of our own versatile M, C. Sam McClarin. The show was star studded withthe charming Mrs. Virgil James and | Sammy Williams sharing top| honors as the outstanding per-. formers of the evening. Other | notable entertainers were: Ed- | ward Bowens, Jimmy Freeman, W._B.. Moore whom: the audi-- ence appreciated very much. Billy Smith also -attempted to! ~ sing~ without any success after | several futile attempts. All the | ~erformers are to be congratulated on giving such an enjoyable show to a very apprecitable audience. While drifting around through the crowd we' chance to see many celebrities. Those more noticeable were the charming Miss Evelyn White sitting on Berlin Dobson~s knee enjoying.the show Miss Lucille with admirers of Edward Watkins who quoted as telling Miss Smith, ~This is the longest talk have ever had, and if he knows what I know, it will be the last.~ attentive to Miss very Smith, much, swar med Was a lovely time. so The reason for much attention shawn Miss Smith was she was without _the Golf! in the presence | we Don Wilson also was most | Smith and of. course~ 1 was only a third party.: ~Iam sure that Miss ~Smith had | | Also seen having a wonderful | time were Sammy Williams and Virginia Todd, Donald Coates and Ceoria Wickard smooching with one another on the dance | floor, and Malesta Williams and party having a delightful time. Noticed back from her vacation | Was Mrs. Ruby Hardin, popular | Society matron of our city. Also the charming Lady Golf Champ-; ion having a wonderful time in the presence of Mrs. B. Roman. Mr. and Mrs. Virgil James, Mr.; and Mrs. Wendall Owens, and Mrs. Cris Lee all seem to have been having a wonderful time. | There also were many of the male sex playing hard as play boys in the presence of Edward Watkins, John Pugh, Capt. J. Murgerson (seen with two girls), Isaac Smith and Jimmy i Connor. Many girls were ask-, Ing ~where is Dusty,~ the ladies | | pet and the men's fret. We _were told Harold was busy en-: tertaining a new found babe. | Everyone present at this gala affair had a most enjoyable time, and Mr. Connie Childress, president, states that many out'standing events are ' agenda for the Golf Club and | coming months.; Elks Daughters of Temple No. | 950 were Hostess at a Spring~ | Frolic Dance given at the ever Grill with music by Eddie | Woods and his Trio. The Daughter Elks served delicious fish dinners to the Daughters and Brothers present with everyone having a wonderful time.
