; ne ees + t0....be -. reffect the cultural: Bedioctec~ PAGE GH r Young Adults of Metropolitan Reach Triumphal Goal: The Young Adults of the Met-~ ropolitan Baptist Tabernacle, went over the top in achieving their goal in their financial; drive. The drive was in the in total. amount reported so far is $784.50. This is a sizeable sum raised by youth groups, however it does not in any way good that members and friends of the church got out of the many pro grams that were sponsored. Rev. Timmons, the popular pastor of Metropolitan and a staunch friend of the youth suffered a painful accident. The Rev.. Montgomery, the assistant pastor, filled the pulpit Sunday morning. Though it was bitter. cold~ and snowing was+filled. ~every ~pew $2 ee | tiams, with Miss Mazelle Heller, terest of their new edifice. Miss Bernetta Timmons, the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Timmons, the pastor, ~stablished herself as a fine young soloist by singing ~The Holy City.~ We always feel uplifted when Miss Joan Montgomery sings. Her number was, ~My Task.~.One of the great treats of the day was a duet by Misses Timmons and ~Mildred Moore. Their articulation and coordination was soothing to any music lover. The playing of Mast~r Harrison McGee, who accompanied solos and duets, proved to be a pleasing innovation. Mr. Daniel Bell, a youth leadstirring talk on the the Crossroads Age.~ ~Youth - at in this Atomic | Mr. Lindall Brady, of the Mt. ' Olive Baptist church was the troduced by Rev. Montgomery. otrduced by Rev. Montgomery. He showed in his discourse a depth of understanding and by precept and example he demonstrated that as a youth, he was yid enough to chart the course and young enough to sail it. Everything he said was undcrstandable and practical. Miss ~Cathryn Kendall delivered the ~velecome address. Mr. Robert Vardlow efficiently served as he Master of Ceremonies. The tour2 -ament lasted two weeks with Mr. Douglas McGruder of Maple street, winning the grand prize: for the two weeks. Others: winhing prizes were Mr. Sam McClaren, and Mrs. D. McGrude2r. The Community Aidettes prove to be a perfect hostess and was overwhelmed at the huge turnout of many outstanding persons from throughout the city. SPORTSMEN.CLUB Sunday, March 2 at the Flora Lea Lounge, the Sportsmen Club held their monthly meeting with 45 or more members turning oui to discuss future plans for starstudded attractions, with -the Sportsmen~s Club~s annual formal holding the spotlight. Plans are underway for the formal to be held in May and Flint~s Society is anxiously awaiting this social event of the season.
