It is.a known fact that every city administration since the writers sojourn heve. has catered to the underworld. No man can be elected without its aid amd since the \propos2d -Grand Jury investigation the un-; derworld has been on edge. Friley for. Commissiorfer, is fastly becoming the hottest cam-|. paign the Third Ward has ever seen. Friley~s chances to win are very good. The surest way to defeat him is to get the report circulated that he is demanding this proposed investigation. It should be underStood by all ~concerned that George Friley is not a novice. He is truly a smart man: The things that he has done* here in Flint have beers well thought out and predicated expediency as well as common sense. Hard practices and conventions have convirtced him that despite his personal if feelings are to play a part in ones public life, have to be discarded or shunted to the background when dealing with diverse people and a com plexed situation. Therefore: the attitude that is followed by all men in public life in Flint has been and is that it is the inevitable that there is no power or force in Flint that if it can, is willing to thwart the underworld. The heat is on now. The heat is always on during election years. The underworld is taking a beating, but after the election is all over, the underworld will be or top..These are too cold facts regardless ~as to how they sound. We feel that this is a time for all men to take a stand for a cardinal principle. Regardless what m?n_ say stand by that principle. George Friley will never desert the people who give him his power, prestige and security.
