She catches the Greyhound regularly, same_ time, same station..One would ieee she was going to work that it early in the morning. ~ that surprise birthday party that didn't ~ come off. The guest of honor surprised her husband by not ~coming back from a Saginaw visit in time for the gala that was ~being readied in her honor. ~ the gift of gab of Boy Mayes. This guy can talk: himself into {or out of) anything! ~ Grady Smith~s new car. A red beauty it is, cand a ~foreigner~. ee WHO~S NEW. Born ~ a daughter, Susan Annette, to Clark: and Marian Smith. Born ~ a son, Terry Edward, to Yvonne; and Henry Eubanks. Born ~ a son, Otis Arnell, to Laura and: ~Otie ~Grady. - Born ~ a daughter, Carla Gwendolyn, to Barbara and Frank Matthews. i PARTYFARE That current craze that is sweeping the nation,: The Hootenanny, wa$ the fun-filled kind of party. that got. underway at the residence of Mrs. Lola Gibson the other evening. Guest of honor at the patio party was Mrs. Rita Lynch, of Kingston, Jamaica. With Arthur Field and Jim Randall - On the guitars, those lifting their voices in glorious, song were: Dr. and Mrs. Herman Curtis, Monsieur et: ~Mesdames = J. Merrell Spencer, E. G. Rodgers, Sam McClain, Henry Dawson, Fred Waller, Melvin Banner, Gordon Go Jackson, Burhs Rolland, Lapper, Dennis Brown. Also spotted around the beautifully arranged buffet table: The Eugene Grices, Harrison McGee, Dick Traylor, Mrs. Mamie Duncan, Mrs. Harriett Walker, Mrs. Beverly Linton, Miss Dorothy Thomason, Mrs. Mildred Opie, Mrs. Mabel Gordon, Miss Kolita Kalyele from Tanganyika, East Africa, and Oris Beane, Berkeley, California. Miss. Leah Ends, Charles Washington, Mrs. Aileen meres Miss Doris: Finney.; On Sunday last, tle Flint Sporiainaas: club: played host to Detroit~s Nacirema Civic and Social Club at the Clifford Street clubhouse. More than 90 members arrived here: from Detroit for the outdoor bar-b-que and other ~doings~ thought up by the host club members. Sunday~s feté marked the 4th year the two clubs have entertained each other. ~Russell Small'is: prexy of the Detroit group. Meanwhile, back at the bar-b-que pit we spotted (work- | ing hard, natch) George Friley, Titus Altheimer, William Vaughn. Others at the fun fare: Dr. and Mrs. William, Sittin and daughter, Monsieur et Mesdames~George~: ~Willian Samuel Seay, Leroy Coleman, Charles Coble,~ Der nis Williams, John Skinner, Charles Neeley, Fred W: ern Woods, Banius Hedrick. President of the Spotisinane _ Andrew Morris, J. H. Matthews was chairman of the ~affair. - WEDDING BELLS Bride of the week ~ likeable, lovable Janie Freenian who once called Texas home. The Addison Street ~Holy Ghost Church was the site. of the rainbow wedding which united Miss Freeman with McKinley Andrews, in a ~regal. ceremony performed by young minister, Jethro Berison.: "The bride wore white~yards and YARDS of white nylon; satin and white net. A full hoop skirt made: her: ~dress a carbon of the gowns one sees in pictures of Southern. belles in placards advertising pilgrimmages to ~southern mansions. Tiny bows caught up at the hemline, and~bits of. lace sprinkled here and there added finishing Luni cage to~ me gown. Pale pink deep rose, sunny yellow, and lime green were the colors. of the ballerina dresses of her attendants. Looking pretty as a picture~Jane Thomas, Joyce Ray; Voncile Benson, Alverna Smith, each carried a single red roseas they preceded ~the bride down a white satin carpet. Pamela Smith daintily dropped. red~ rose petals along the carpet for the bride to trod on. And Master Dorius Benson.looked like. a splendid gentleman as. the ~ proudly (and swiftly) carried the ring to the best ~~ ee atid white satin pillow. Attendants for the groom. included: | Tommy Brown, Aaron Andrews, Robert Burrell, Forest Ray,: PE, See ders, Thedore and Richard Johnson. ~ Out of town guests present were Ben Texas and Mrs. Louise Gates, Long Island, Beg Other out of towners were Bobby Glynn, Detroit, Charles Clifton, Dorothy and Bennie Cardeen, Helen erly Glynn, all from Detroit. | Ai sas (the Los: Wilsons), I sete, ana ~Vallejo, Calitornia for s The mailman~ brings. ~ K Do 3, ew Cisco. Another new club.-will be known around these parts as ~the. ~Maids~ and ~Mites~President + ~Joan Williams, Vice President. - Yvonne. Smith, Secretary - Irene ~ Garrison, Treasurer -: Lillian Frazier. Members include-Joyce Williams, ~Helen: Cook, -Maurene Wilson, and Sharon Thomas. Another new. group calls themselves the Guys and Dolls! Here~s ~the membership list; but to date they have not elected Officers: Hal Wentworth, Bob Smith, Jerome Kennedy, Lloyd Gigson, Helen Wills, Barbara Jetfferson, Shirley Clark, and Geraldine Watson.
