Up to this full of the ups afid downs American I have gamut of emotions common to man,. birth, death of loved ones, pain, hunger, hatred, anger, pity, and compassion. These are the common lot of mankind, no matter what his shade of skin, politics, or religion. ~But today is a bit different, for I have seen my people get together in a common cause for a common purpose. Many of them are much, much, younger than I and. many of them are contemporaries of mine with whom I fought this battle in the shops years ago.~ ~This has brought me to that realization that Flint is a city unique unto itself and its people are unique unto ~themselves. and as quiet. as it is kept, si purchasing power of the Negro in Flint has risen to almost ur or more million dollars a week. Almost every. major industry has provided or is providing job opportunities and training to the Negro in Flint. Preparation for opportuyity abounds in our many _ instiuttions of learning in Flint. In fact, I*even heard a young person say recently that ~things were too-easy for Negroes in Flint,~ they needed to have it harder~!
