We moved to Chicago after I.-finished high school in -Birmingham, Ala. I didn~t play any sport in high school, but a little basketball.~ He started with the Spring: field team of the Eastern League in 1958. That year Chuck finished the season with the most hits jazz devotee and plays a cool trumpet, came into his own. In 1962 with the El Paso team he led the league in hitting with.348 and in hits with 179. He had 23 home runs with 115 runs batted in. For this supreme effort he won the MVP award and played in the Texas -League All Star game. Chuck -was also voted the Most Popular Player at El Paso. ~My biggest kick last year came when I hit four home runs in one game against Amarillo. He accomplished this feat on August 20th. Skeptically, they finally did, and then only conditionally, Thinking this. was hiS big chance Chuck turned in a sterling performance in spring training. He finished with a robust batting average of.371 while he porformed around first _ base like an Arthur Murray honor gaduate.
