Seaborg, chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission made a speech at the 18th National Conference on Higher Education in Chicago last*week. The speech, while given in the language of the intellectual, carried with that ominous undertone cf Huxley~s ~Brave New Wold.~ Those who have been keeping close touch with the world of literature know. that Life is highly possible from a test-tube, that genetic characteristics will be pre-determined, and that complete eradication of all earthy diseases is more of a possibility than ever before. The lengthening of the normal life span is seen by the increasing numbers of people 65 years and older drawing Social Security payments. It is already known * who is geihg to decide possess, i what a ~more meaningful fulfill I don~t feel that Dr. Seaborg~s definition of education is the same*as mine.. As far as I know, there is no. scientific instrument, mrocess, or analysis capable of determining the precise state of the human emotions. These can hot be ignéred when deiving into man~s future....Or can they?
