sales expert said here today,

sales training for, Chrysler Corporation, said the opportunity

~Although women who enroll
in our sales training programs
receive the same basic instructions on sales.as the men do,
we pass along some helpful hints
about what the feminine customer
usually looks for when she~s out
shopping for a new model,~ Mr.
Van Dagens said.

~There is a new interest in
the role women can play in selling automobiles, both by women
themselves and by dealers,~ Mr.
Van Dagens pointed out. ~It is
our experience that women are
vecoming more interested in retail selling than ever before.
Women who enter automotive
sales have.an opportunity to receive. instruction in their new
career with courses at Chrysler
Corporation training centers, or
at- training sessions offered in
the field throughout the country,
Mr. Van Dagens said.

In Cumberland, Maryland, a
dealership hired five new saleswomen and, at last report, was
pleased with their progress.

In this -ease a representative
from the Detroit Training Center
went to Cumberland to instruct
the women in a special training
course which included pointers
on qualifying a sale prospect,
presenting. and closing a sale,
and information about the entire
sales cycle.

~Heretofore, automotive sales
for the most part have been regarded as something exclusive to
men. -But this is no longer true.
Dealerships throughout the country are recognizing the value
of saleswomen and are screening
prospects in the same way they
do their prospective salesmen,~
Mr. Van Dagens said.
