The Bronze Reparter is a non-partisan newspaper - Its main. objective is to render a public service through goed journalism and to this end, The Bronze Reporter is Aidccrstrsd dedicated. i (As Suggested By Northern School Boards) As we go to préss the Supreme Court is hearing arguments pro and con as to: whether integration should proceed in Little Rock, Ark., or should be: suspended. The entire world is watching this decision. Will the Federal Government bow to the mob? Or): will the constitution of the United States be upheld? Much is at stake here. If the threat of violence can stop the wheels of justice in Little Rock, why not in Nashville, Jackson, or anywhere in Dixie. | This ~threat. of violence~ theme can logically spread to other areas. If the people of Flint object to the Armed Services Law, the Federal Income Tax, or even a new oneway street, could they not just as logically gather together in mobs, throw stones, spit, and jeer until they are given a ~waiting period~ to adjust? Clearly this would smack of Sedition and any such program. would be met with swift incarceration in the newest federal prison. This sort of thing is frowned upon by northern school new answers. Amid all the furor of court battlés, delayed school opening, ~and high feeling, children in countless northern communities quietly filed into their separate (but equal) schools with hardly a murmur, apparently unaware of the fact of their segregation. Northern school boards must smile to themselves at the naivete of the Little Rock school board. Haven~t they heard of the old American custom of gerry-mandering? 2 oer ere temerer reer tere ee tes.
