The soa championship fight betweer! vege at ~World~s Heavyweight Champion, Floyd Patterson and challenger Roy Harris. On August 22, 1957 Floyd Patterson easily outclassed Pete Rademacher to retain his title. Fans all over the world were talking. about the unevenly matched bout. To think that a ~advantage~ of an untried professional. True, Rademacher was the; Olympic Champ, but there is a~ vast difference in fighting amateurs and fighting professionals, as Rademacher has found out in his only two professional fights. | Getting back to the Patterson-' Harris walts ~ and I mean just that, Harris had fought twenty-! two. professional bouts without defeat, In this period: he had! only fought two name _ boxers,. one that has long been over the hill and one that is a fair boxer but not the kind that prepares a man for the title fight. Sure Harris fooled Patterson, any heavyweight fighter in the world could do. hatt if he got lucky or Patterson got careless. I have long been in Patterson~s corner, but if he continues to let his manager, Cus D~Amato, handle him the way. he is, I will turn my -head when ti comes time to pat Patterson on~ the back, Patterson has the makings of being the greatest champ of all times, he~ is fast, young, can box and most of all he can hit; bit D'Amato is letting a ~personal ~feud with the IBC ruin the heavyweight class.
