If you~re in the vicinity of Clark School some afternoon, you might be lucky enough to catch the girls in action in their new blue and Red Bronze Reporter jerseys. ~The ladies met in tHe month cf May with Mendall Vaughn at Clark School. The softball team was formed and Owen Jackson was appointed their manager.. Games were scheduled and at the end of the first six games, the. Bronze Reporter team had scored over 100 runs to their opponents 20 odd runs. The teampersennel includes: Mrs.. Frankie~;Wynn, the team captain. Mrs. Wynn has about 12 years of experience. during which time she played with such tears as Buick CIO, Caldwell~s Grocery, Clifford St. Center and Superior Life Insurance. On the mound: you will.find either Geraldine Wells or Eva Childress. Mrs. Wells is employed. at the A. C. Spark Plug Division of G.M. In her many years of experience as a ball player, she has played with the Kentucky Barbeque Team and Clark School. _. Mrs. Childress played on the same teams as Mrs. Wells. Mrs. Chandler has played with teams in her home at- East St. Louis, Illinois. She works in the Admitting Department at Hurley Hospital. -.* ~Mrs... Blackwell formerly of Chi Mrs. Owens formerly played with Clifford Street Center. She |~ is employed at the Flint Cleaners and Dyers as a silk finisher and hat blocker. Mrs. Dumas has played with Elm Park playground. Joyce Peck. is. one of the most experienced players on the. team. She formerly. played -with ' Clifford Street Center. and Buick CIO. Mrs. Peck ~is employed vat Hurley~ Hospital. Mrs. Fraulien Hogan, a Flint product, and sometimes is mistaken for Yogi Berra: -A great catcher and a good ball hawk describes her perfectly. She formerly played with Buick CIO, Caldwell~s Grocery, Superior Lake. Insurance and Clifford Street Center. Mrs. Eva Hamilton is a utility player. She: is outstanding at all positions and js always on the another. She, is employed at the Mott Foundation. She was a member of the St. John Athletic Club who went to Lansing, Mich- | igan~s State Tournament and | won~ it the championship three straight years. DETROIT~Richard B. ~Rick~ Ferrell has been named Director of Minor League Personnel for the Detroit Baseball Company, General Manager John J. McHale announced today. Ferrell, 53, has been in baseball since 1926, when he signed with Detroit, and has been in the Tiger organization as a coach since 1950 and. as a scout since 1954. Currently, he has been operating as.a scout on a nationwide. basis. McHale said that Ferrell would be in charge of ~supervision, advancement. and instruction of all minor league players under contract. The duties of hiring and directing minor league managers also will be his responsibility. Ferrell assumes: charge -of the Tigers~ 10-club)farm system with some 200 players.
