BRONZE REPORTER, SATURDAY, NOV. 9, 1957 EDITORIALS. Suppose.... ~We are ccensiantly -being bcaabarded with warnings and pleas to prepare ourselves in the event of dis-\ aster; whether it is due to enemy &ciion or some other: type of catastrophe. Farsighted civic leaders realize how unprepared we are to cope wiih disaster on a large scale. Citizens, especially in America, are prone to take security for granted. Looking at history in restrospect, we find that the pages are full of accounts of a people being ~subjected to-unnécessary suffering and casualties solely because they were unprepared for. the unexpected. SUPPOSE... tomorrow morning YOU were awakened by an alarm indicating that the enemy had struck your locality with a devestating bomb or that a sweeping tornado had slipped into your area rendering havoc. What would you do... how would you protect wour family and your property? Chances are that you would/ be dependéntiapénm others for assisiance.. BUT SUP. POSE,.THE PERSONS TRAINED IN CIVIL DEFENSE also~ had to attend to the needs of their families and propei/y.,.what would be your fate? The Boy Scouts have a motto, ~Be Prepared.~ These two simjple words should be seriously regarded and put into practice. Under war conditions, the smallest unit, such as a! platoon, to the larger units, such as a division, were taught and drilled in anticipation of different ~ypes of attack, Each members of the unit knew exactly what to do under certain conditions, It might be wise for the head of each family to familiarize his loved ones with safety measures and firdt aid. He should periodically warn against panic and hysteria. In order to advise and instruct, the head of the fam~ily should. know. more about CIVIL DEFENSE. It~s just like the Boy Scouts say: ~Be Prepared.~ "INDUSTRIAL HARDWARE BOYDELL PROVEN QUALITY PAINTS PRODUCTS BOYDELL PAINTS PORTER: CABLE MACHINERY SPORTING GOODS KITCHEN WARE SMALL.
