And to be ready to vote every citizen 21 years of age, and over must be registered, in order to cast their ballot. Your vote means something to you. It expresses intelligent citizenship ~in ~the simplest manner. There is~nothing: of more vital importance to recognized citizenship than your yote. Believe itor not, -your vote is your weapon against, political slavery, and is the agreeable manner by which all people can have a voice in the good and welfare of the community, state and national affairs. It is through voting that we help maintain the high standards of law. This is true, because it is through our representatives |; that we see that the government is conducted rightly, and laws are put into practice, without harmful new amendments, to hinder the cause of ~Freedom~s Fight.~ Another thing in the political line, is that we should be | careful that we do. net defeat our expectations, or political desires when we think of the idea of representation. This | can be done when too many of the Negro face enter the |~ political battle. We are especially interested in seeing that one of the race get into the City Contmission chamber. in the City 6f'Flint. However, we believe ~that no matter how earnest -our |! desires may be, ~for such to happen, our intentions can be |; defeated if we are not alert. Now the questions may arise, what:can be done about it? Is not the political battle free to those who qualify. The answer may be ~yes,~ but.this can frustrate to such.an extent that all of the Negro race be defeated. And again hindered from the City Commission because of too many spilt votes. So, it is valuable for all, if those who throw their hats | into the race for Council, get together, and all but one cancel their run, in order that Flint citizens may ~elect 2}; Negro'to the City Commission. And we ask our readers, |! are we right or wrong Let us hear from you. ~STAFF~ Ht OS: 3 4 } i: nar a es ia? 3 ~r et a, _.. lexan Of * 7" i and + Pon L TAYLOR & SONS GROCERY ~We Sell American Engen Money Orders In Town | ~OPEN DAILY 7:00:A.M. ~ 41:09 Be.
