Dr. Strassner was Pastor of
the Mount Zion Baptist Church,
Charlottesville, Virginia for seven years. From 1938 to 1944 he
served Ss Dean of Religion at
Bishop College, Marshall, Texas.
At Bishop College he assumed
technical duties as Chief.Administrator while the président
was. away on several month~s
leave.

of Trustees as Chairman of the}

President; On November 16, 1951
Dr. Strassner was inaugurated as
as the Sixth President of Shaw
Univ ersity.

Miss Pieters comes to the
Flint Public Library from Maryland where she was -served in
the Mt. Wilson hospital since
1953. A graduate of Hope College, Michigan, Miss iPeters attended the University: of Illinois~ Library School. She ~specialized in hospital library service at the Univrsity of Minnesota Library.School. Her ex~perience includes work in the
University Hospitals of the
State University of Iowa and _ in
the Victor Cullen Hospital,,Cullen, Maryland.~ She: has~ been
editor of the Hospital Book
Guide, a publication -of. the
Ameriean Library Association,
~and has held other. offices in
that organization.

Miss Pieters was born in Japan, where her father worked as
a missionary. Her mother and
a sister reside in Holland, Michigan. ~
