This reporter spied among the many lovely ladies ~Mrs. Irene Bedenfield (president) and other club members; the Cotillions, Poodles, Mambos, Kings, Lakeside Sportsmen, Monarchs, Ladies of Paris, 12 Step Brothers, Friendly Twelve, Vogettes, Eight Glees, Barons and the Ey Capitans. es * * * tied { ~SURPRISE BIRTHDAY PARTY~was given for Robert Hollowell by his lovely wife and friends. The affair took place last Friday (April 19) at the home of Mr. ~and Mrs. Claude Monroe on Parkland. In attendance to sing ~Happy Birthday~ and help blow out the candles were: Mr. and Mrs. Richard Baker, Mr. and Mrs. Willie -Hollowell, Mr. and Mrs. James Wardsworth, Mrs. Ira Bernard, Eddie Little, Clarence Coleman, Andrew Harris, Fred Garrett, Jeff (The Great) Jefferson, James Franklin, Wilbur Schannon and Bob (The Flash) Mayes. PHIST~ SOCIAL CLUB~gave a Pot: Luck Dinner last Friday at the Hurricane Room. Guests were served up heaping portions of chicken (fried of course), tuna and potato salad. in speaking to the club president (Larry Fullwood),~ we were informed that the members are mostly Junior College students. This group is planning ~BIG THINGS~ for the future, so keep an eye on them!; A PANCAKE SUPPER~was given by Boy Scout Troop No. 223 last Saturday (April 20) at the Hurricane Room. William Leeper, Scoutmaster, was overseas for the lavish preparations. Those who helped serve up and prepare the ~mouth watering~ pancakes and ~sizzling~ sausages were: Mrs.: Marjorie Whitson, Arthur Bassett and Scout Freelon Threlkeld, Jr. Others who participated were: Scouts Bennie Kendall (Gen. County~s only Negro Eagle Scout), Walter Ferguson, Warren Buchanan, Harry Prince Jr., Leonard Williams and Walter Burton (assistant Scoutmaster), Willie W. Burton (co-chairman with Walter Burton).: THE FOXES CLUB~threw their hat in the Easter parade with a big Matinee at the Frolic Cocktail Lounge. On hand to supply the music was Jeff (The Great) Jefferson. Billy Gamble did a real ~bang-up~ job of emceeing. Dorothy ~ Richardson, from Detroit, gave out with the songs that had the crowd begging for more. The group gave out prizes for the best dressed gentleman and lady in the crowd. First prize (in the men~s division) went to Marc Woodson; first prize (in the ladies~ division) went to Mrs. Florence Manning for her simply GEEE-orgious outfit. The lovely ladies blossomed out at the affair like flowers in a garden in their beautiful Easter finery.
