Agency...added a couple of years to her.age...now
She brings home a paycheck aqual to the big brothers,
oa~ have been struggling along for years at a local..- THAT pretty red-haired housewife on the southend, who told her husband she was ~going to the show~
sts She didn~t add that the show was in Detroit!.. -her
explaination as she alighted from a Grevhond bus in
the early yawning...~I wanted to see The Ten Commandments.~~ 2

- - -FHAT young lady who ~shocked~ conservative
club women, considering her membership, by telling
them that she preferred the company of the ladies to
gentlemen,..Flint men can~t be that repulsive..
are they?. ~ ~THAT exodus made by a group of ex-(??) numbers. barons to Hot Springs,. Arkansas,..it was felt that
the climate was warm enough here...of course, Flint
doesn~t afford those costly mineral baths. |

MOVIEWISE AND OTHERWISE.. -Billy Eckstine,
confirmed his engagement to a pretty young miss who
resides ~across the pond.~.. Have you heard Harry
Belafonte sing ~Noah~ and ~Didn~t it Rain?~.. If you
haven~t, then you~re in for a treat...Charles Bronson
always gives a flawless performance,..Sinatra~s voice,
like good wine, mellows, with age...All of the tickets
for the opening night performance of Lena Horne~s
Broadway. play have pees sold. (It will open this fall).

* *: PARTYFARE...The Blue Star Mothers held a

game~~ party Saturday night at the home of Mrs. Ethel
Wilson to raise money for the disabled veterans. Coffee
and cake were served to Mrs. J. L. Brady...Mrs. Fanny
Ross...Mrs. Thel Curise...Mrs. Vivian Artis...Mrs.
Audrey Wilson...Mrs. Bertha McClellan...Mrs;
Green,.
of the party came when the persons holding ~lucky~
tickets were presented with lovely ~door~ prizes. This
is a worthy organization...all would do well to support mi.

COCKTAIL CHITCHAT...Mary Flippen says she is
glad to be home after her recent hospital trek. The
Gilbert Jacksons are renewing old acquaintance in Hot
Springs, Arkansas, It~s good to see. Rose Phillips up and

Zell Milés ~wilP fourney to Gary, Indiana,~and -Chicago

Anna Taylor welcomed a bouncing.baby boy recently.. their second. Freddie and Inez Bishop have decided

The Zeta Beta Omega Chapter of the Alpha Kappa
Alpha Sorority presented a gala: fashion show at the
Masonic Temple the other Sunday (April 7)...and the}.
apparel of the GUESTS almost outsone the. fashions of
the models. Minks (from silverblu to black diamond},
_ Stone martens, and sables wete all aver. Oris L. Beane,
Leona Brown, Margaret Brown, Isabelle Buckner (who
narrated), Mildred Cambridge, Frances Calter, Marie
Clayton, Roberta Courts. Vivian Edmunds, Nancy F.
Maithco, Willett Johnson, Princetta McAfee, Clara Mc~ Clain, Inez McClarin, Hazel Mann, Marjorie Robinson,
Mabel Pritchett, Gladys Scott, Archie Selby, Lola Shelby, eBrtha Simms, Bernice Slaughter, Mildred Smith,

The Masonic Temple was the
show last Sunday afternoon, The
scene of a very picturesque style
affair was presented by the Zeta
Beta Omega Chapter of ~Alpha
Kappa Alpha Sorority with ~the
cooperation of Maas Brothers,
one of Flint~s leading fashion
salons who furnished the styles,

The color motif of green and
pink was used for decorative

Leon and Jay Watkins, probably better known for their athletic prowess, may have the
Midas touch with teen-agers,
Last Saturday night at the Pioneer Hall, they promoted -the
first of a,series of teen, dances.
While the dance didn~t. draw a
standing-room-only crowd, the
young people who attended
seemed to have enjoyed the
evening, ~

Music was -by recordings,
which didn~t deter the frolicking. Dance promoters, Leon and
Jay, said they were pleased. with
the turnout and the behavior of
the younger set.

~As ~long as the teen-agers
conduct themselves as ladies and
gentlemen and turnout to our
affairs, we will provide them a
chance to enjoy themselves and
to be entertained by those teenagers who have talent,~ confided
