A fighter who fights! That is Chuck Spieser, the Detroiter who risks his ~ies tige as the foremost light heavyweight title contender when he battles kayo-artist Tony Anthony at the Olympia Stadium Friday, April 5. This is the: big one for both Spieser and Anthony, who is ranked No. 4 among the light heavyweight contenders for ageless Archie Moore~s 1%5-pound diadem. The winner of the April 5th duel will definitely meet Mogre for the title at the Olympia on Friday, June 7. Many of the fist men who went from the college ranks depended on speed, boxing into professional boxirig have skill and defensive adroiines. Not Spieser. He i a slugger who likes to wade in flat-footed and fire away. He is primarily a puncher, one of the best. And he may be the most accomplished in-fighter in the ring today. ~I remember when Chuck was fighting in the amateurs,~ says Johnny Weber, veteran boxing referee. ~Nobody ever had to break him from a clinch in those days. He never clinched. If the other fellow tried to tie him up,, Chuck always punched his way out.. ~He still fights the same day. He is ~rough and rugged and he knows only ome way to box~ that is to take the offensive and keep. it. Chuck is one young mark who really likes to fight.~ Anthony has the same idea. Like Spieser, he is known primarily for his readiness to trade wallops at any time. He may not be, as damaging a body puncher as Spieser, but he can hit hard enough to put a foe away with a single punch. Spieser:s a devastating two fisted slugger with a knack for demolishing his most highly raied opponents. He. proved that aga~n in: his battle with Germanys Willie Hoepner last Spieser Fights Here On Sth Sphen & at the time as the logical contenders for Moore's title.. The tall southpaw was picked by many o upset Spieser, but crushed him with a furious secen-round barrage, dropping) him 2:29 of the second round. He will be out to do the same thing against Anthony, but this time it is_a calculated risk. For! An| thony has knockout ambitions of ihis own, and the weapons to back them up.
