Schneirs, executive secretary of the Infantile paralysis. foundation of Genesee ounty, was the guest speaker at a Valentine Coffee sponsored by the helping circle of he King~s Daughters. The affair was held at the home of the president, Mrs. Frances R. Leach. The proceeds went to the polio foundation. _The coffee was well attended and a financial success. Mrs. Henry T. Neely was chairman assisted by, Mrs.. Lillian Newman, Mrs. Joseph Robinson, Mrs. Booker Barton, Mrs. Mamie McCoy, Mrs. Fred Harcum, Mrs. Augustus Calloway, Mrs. Ezra Broadnax and Mrs. Alexander Burrell. Coffee and an assortment of Homemade breakfast rolls was served. Each guest received a souvenir coffee measurer and ~Peters, Miss Pamela Loving and Caldwell. The program includes skits and dances by The Royal Lovers, Ferguson~s Academy, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Mar Ja Dot Studio, and Terri Van Hurley Studio. And without a doubt, they have many loyal friends. j witness the jam-packed - Til Morocco Inn Sunday evening where they held their matinee. Shortly after six, the SRO sign was.put out. turned out ~en masse~ for ~the~ party of the month! Under the capable direction of the club~s prexy, ~Mr. Personality~ himself, Al Garner, everything was carried out with the precision. and the glamour vf a Broadway play on opening night, The guests were seated at the beautifully appointed tables with finesse and courtesy that Buckingham Palace might well envy. The 12 Step Brothers were the classiest ~Waiters~ this side of the Waldorf! Attired in stiff white bell-boy type jackets and black trousers they almost stole the show! Jeff Jefferson~s aggregation supplied the music, and as an added attraction the Floyd Lumpkins and Johnny Beatty formed a trio and sang many old favorites, Floyd Lumpkins~ solo, ~Every | Day I Have the Blues,~ had the Socialites, (12 Step Brothers: Draws S.R.O. Crowd fethales; aniin for more! Frederick | Luckado~s: his remarks about ~Old Crow.~ -|Ineidently, Fred did a bang up job as M. C. The John. Gibsons were among the guests. The ~Five Aces~ club came all. the way from/{ Pontiac to join in the merrymaking. Also present were~ the following Flint clubs:, The Silver Slippers (who were aressed alike in white and crange dresses), the Cotillion Chub, the Flint Citizens Club, the Barons, the Tic-Toc Club, the - Marathon: Club, the HiSteppers, the Midwest Jazz Club,- the Mambo Club, the Brownettes, the Big Ten Club, the Poodles, the Voguettes and the Eight Glee Club. Shirley Franklin was a knockout in a black cocktail dress. Mrs. William Posey was.a spring dream in:.a beige dress with gold flecks running through it. And Geraldine Johnson wore a white dress with a flowing silver net panel that was her own fabulous creation, See what I mean when I say it was the party of the month, and don~t you agree, the 12 Step Brothers have many, many ioral friends? Roger R. Lewis, Berlin W. Dobson, Layton Galloway, Theodore ose and Joseph R. Davis, wer ible for one of the gayest parties of the month! (Look out girls they~re stealing your thunder). As officers of the Flint Branch National Alliance of Postal Employee~s the brun of the party rested upon their capable shoulders. And with a little teamwork they really pulled off a party that will be long remembered by Flint citizens.: The music played sofily( and at times not too softly) The food served buffet style was delicious, and the guest~s danced until the early yawning. Maggie Lewis was stunning). in a black velvet sheath ~dress, and Gwendolyn Elliott (Flint in. a flaming red dress that swriled around hed gracefully as she followed the intricate dance steps of her handsome partner.
