rel Rev. G. H. Williams ~Sin Is Essentially a Departure from God"~Luther One of fhe most serious consequences of sin is the fact that it estranges the sinner from the person against whom the wrong has been perpetrated. As soon as you have wronged or injured another, at. once, you begin to shun him or her. You prefer to walk a whole block out of your way so as not to meet the person against whom. you have sinned. It causes a very unpleasant sensation to pervade your being when you are thrown into his presence. The feeling of estrangement even makes one afraid and hesitant to ask forgiveness for his son(s): Sin disrupts the harmopy which exists ideally between = man and God. As soon as man humbles himself and~ turns | to God to ask forgiveness for the sins committed, the estrangement ceases te exist. The way is then opened for a genuine communion between God and man. The removal of the barrier, at once creates in the soul -of man a feeling of oneness and unity with God the Heavenly Father. Such was the case when David realized the fact that he had hecome estranged from God and said, ~Create in me a clean heart and renew a right sppirit.~ (Psa. 51:10)! It is not God~s will that man become. estranged from Him. It does not matter to Him how black a person~s sins might be. God stands with outstretched arms saying, ~Come let us reason one with the other. Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.~ ~Sin! Sin! Thou art a hateful and horrible thing, that abominable thing which God hates. And what wonder? Thou hast insulted) His holy majesty; thou hast bereaved him of beloved children; thou hast crucified the 3 son of his infinite love; thou hast defiled His power; thou hast despised His grace; and in the body and blood of Jesus, as if that were a common thing, thou hast trodden under~ foot His matchless. mercy. Surely, brethren,~ the wonder is, that sin is not that abominable thing which we also hate. ~Thomas Guthrie BRONZE REPORTER, SAT. FEB. 23,, 957 CARL DOUGLAS J ONES | Sunday.
