Flint Branch NAACP Speakers Established ~ The Flint Branch of the N.A.A.C.P. announced week the establishment of a organization. A number of qualified officers and members; of the branch are available to speak to clubs, ch and service organizations, regarding the prog! jectives of the N.A.A.C.P. The N.A.A.C P appears in the news frequently in connection with Tegal cases brought. before the U: S. Supreme Court, in orGer. to secuie equal educational | facilities for Negroes and equal job opportunities; to protect the right of Negroes to vote in. the South; and to protect the person | and property of Negroes. Mis-, information and lack of information exists regarding the objectives of the N.A.A.C.P. There is sometimes deliberate mis-interpretation of ils goals. We feel that a speakers bureau will fill an exisiting need for greater communication between various segments of the community and will be heelpful in bringing about racial understanding and harmony. The roster of speakers from the Flint Branch who are available free of charge includes Dr. J.. L, Leach, National Board mémber; Herman Gibson, president; Attorney Eligha Scott, cha:rman of the Legislative Committee of the Branch; Leo A. Miss Cornelia Mulder spoke on the subject and led a discussion (on civil defense. * ca \* Miss Mulder chose to call the Civil Defense program ~Survival Preparedness,~ She disclosed what part the schools are playing in ithe program. According to Miss Mulder, the civil] defense program aims at dealing with two kinds of disasters~natural and ~ manmade. An educational program is heing carried.on to acquaint parents and children with meth- |? cds of survival devised by the}; fire. department, the police department, and the Red Cross. Rancho on Dort Highway. The dining room| was beautifully decorated, a lovely bowl of gladiolas interspersed with greenery formed the table centerpiece. At each plate was a name card and souvenir for each member.. District Court, asked for payment of '| damages totaling $270, 000. * * STUDENT TO TOUR ASIA ON SCOOTER Embarking on a ~Safari Tour~ of Europe, Asia and Africa by Vespa Scooter is Mr. Olabisi Ajala. A 26 year old psychology student from Nigeria, Mr. Ajala plans to leave | London on April 27. Mr. Ajala is one of five African students who lived with us in Chicago. During that time, he. was a student at the University of Chicago. While here, he took a similar jaunt on bicycle, covering 3,800 miles in 35 days.
