On-The-Job Training aH * + at Three High Schools The students at Northern, Central and Tech high schools can consider themselves. quite lucky. They have an opportunity to take advantage of the co-op program. This program provides practical on-the-job experience for high school students. Any student at least 16 years old can participate. He or she must also have had at least one related: subject to his occupation or job. The students are able to train in office, sales and retailing, trade and industrial positions. School counselors act as coordinators between the schools and the concerns. The student takes his regular subjects in school during the morning hours and then works ~on the job~ during the afternoon. They are paid the same wages Os a regular worker. In Michigan alone, 8,600 schools have such a program. There are many advantages to the student and to the business world as well.
