Se Rete fan ~ 413 ' = hin (If you don~t like read this column) NOT IN PUBLIC, PLEASE~ It séems,a certain grocer whose name is (Censored), doesn~t realize where to lose temper. He should permit--himself to show more respect for the fair sex, but if he must beat his fair damsel, who is not his wife, then take her in_ the alley or someplace. ~All up and down St. John St.~ is not the right place. THE LANDLORD WON~T SQUEAL~It.seems that word is getting around fast that -if you (fellows only) ever want a real, real wild time where the Landlord won~t squeal because he~s in - it too deep~it~s up on Lapeer St. They are always in high gear and a couple of fifths will put __you in like Fylnn. THINGS AIN~T LIKE THEY ~USED TO. BE~It seems that people are wondering how can Mr. (Censored) possibly think everyone believes him to be a P. I. He hits the clock so regula the clock flinched at the véry sight of him. While he is on the 2nd shift mill; his harem is on the prowl, for themselves no less. YOU TALKING ABOUT BEING BOLD~It seems that a drink of intoxicants can make a heel of some people. People are still, buzzing about one of: the newly rich who flashed his roll on the pretty wife of Mr. (Censored) and told her that her husband wasn~t or couldn~t' do the right thing because h@ghad no blow money (?7?}. Mr. Newly Rich is sober, he~s a very nice guy. KNOW ANYONE CALLED HONEY: BOY~It seems that Mr. (Censored) better known as ~Honey-Boy~, just can~t. stand them cold nights.. alone. He was slipping around with a nice little philly on the Q. T.. Somebody pulls the madam~s skirts, Gnd the madam pulls Mr. (Censored). Shirt. He ADMITS. wolfish tendencies.and she quits the scene. After both girls turn their backs on him, he realized a home gossip don~t should be adorned by one~s wife. ~ Well his bank account took a dip, and she did a flip and now all is well~all is well. SEE YOU AT THE DERBY?~ It seems two prominent ladies are spreading the rumor that they are going to the Derby. and according to grapevine,~ Pretty Boy &~(Censored) was awfully loud about going to Chicago for the week-end. Why go to.all the trouble trying to deceive your friends? You were seen at the Hotel (Black) in Detroit. You made, reservations for two adjoining rooms. And your rooms are 306-307. ADVICE: GIRLS BE CAREFUL OF DRINKS~It seems that a certain young lady accepted a ride in an ald friend of family~s car. ~I ask you,~ she said, ~what girl couldn~t trust (Censored)? His name would make you lose faith in humanity.. He took the girl the long way home, and induced her to have a cooling drink with him. He claims: when she woke up, (sounded like a knockout drop), she was in a Motel. She~ claims a bambino is now on its way. She wants girls to be careful about accepting drinks from men. IT~S TRUE, SHE HAD A FLAT TIRE~It seems that Mrs. (Censored) was long overdue last Wednesday night. Hubby likes to be picked up at work (2nd shift), but this time wife - ecouldn~t make it on time. She got the car stuck in mud, had a flat, and had to call wrecker. Her fine: auto was sighted behind the Ww ter works. Censored! Asin. Hens On the basis of evidence sented by the Food and Drug. Administration, the U. S. Court ~of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit has announced that it hereby warns and advises all sufferers from cancer, their families, physicians, and afl concerned with the care of eancer patients that the socalled Hoxsey treatment for internal cancer is a worthless treatment. ~ The Federal Food and Drug Act authorizes dissemination of information regarding drugs in situations ~involving imminent -danger to health or gross deception to the consumer. This treatment for internal cancer involves such drugs. Its sale represents a gross deception to the purchaser. dangerous to rely upon this instead of competent treatment. This treatment cost the patient approximately $460 all of which is of no value in the cure of cancer.- This treatment begins with an inadequate examination at Hoxsey Clinic, Dallas, Texas, or Portage, Penna. The patient is then supplied with a -variabue ~pill.~ Some may be red, black or brown. These may also vary greatly in contents. Some evidence has been found to verify that some of the conte actually could accelerate the growth of cancer. The Administration has conducted a very thorough invest-. igation of this treatment, the so-called cures have been - extensively studied, and not ~one verified~cure was established: There was ~no scientific evi co-workers were forbidden from shipping their worthless cancer medicines in interstate commerce labeling, representing or suggésting or implying that: the products therein were effective in the treatment of, any type of. cancer. Lay New Shingles On Top Of Old Roofing With the tasteful use of color reroofing offers the opportunity of improving the appearance of the whole house. A new roof color can serve as a basic theme for new wall and trim colors. Asphalt* shingles the material customarily used, come in a range of colors and shades to satisy any prefer ence. Through a new method of apPlication, asphalt strip shingles can be applied on roofs that have only 2 inches of rise per foot. Until recently, only ~built-up,~ roofs could be used on low-slope roofs. Now a newly built wing with a low-slope roof can have the same advantages of color as steeper roofs, Any structural addition toa house raiseg the question of roofing. The roof is the home~s first line of. defense against the elements. It also is one of the key factors in exterior decoration. When a home-owner adds a wing or a shed dormer, one of the prime considerations is keeping the new construction from stand new areas.. If the roof on the main part of the house is obviously weathered, an overall reroofing job is probably justified in terms of the decorative value of covering the new and old structure with a matching roof. If the main roof is reasonably new, roofing of a harmonizing color can be ~seleeted for the addition.. The real measure of our wealth is how much we ~should be worth if we lest our money. ~J. H. Jowett Break up clinques, level wealth with honesty, let worth be judged according to wisdom, and we get better views of -humanity. ~Mary Baker Eddy =: 2. 8 ~ One of the difficult tasks in this world is to convince a woman. Butterfield arrived at the park prior to the game __ be-tween Wilson and Kinston with four other men. All had season tickets except the Rev. T. A. Watlins, a Wilson minister. The part-time ticket salesman, Carroll Kemp, said Watkins asked to buy a ticket to the.grandstand and ~I told him I could not sell him a_ grand stand ticket.~ Kemp said Watkins asked him whv and that he told him that, ~I was not allowed to sell though the stadium has no sign to distinguish white and Negro sections. suits Go ee to a great many others, that all fish are color-blind! Who is right? a4 Well, back in the 1880's the German scientist Graber ran ex-~ haustive tests on several species and concluded that fish were definitely attracted by certain colored lights and food. Another rman, Bauer, conducted similar experiments in 1910 and hag and came to the same decison. At about the te backing up Graber~s theory a scientist named Hess was making some tests of his own. When he completed them in 1914, he an- - nounced that ~his findings disagreed sharply with those of Graber and Bauer. Hess concluded that a fish~s vision was similar to that of a color-blind man, that its. response to colors depended upon the color~s intensity. Two more scientists, Schiemenz and Wolff, looked into the squabble over fishes color preception in the mid-20~s and stated after a time that a minnow could dis among about 20 colors visible spectrum. glass tube, wrapped with a. colored band, into a tank of the fish. When a bass swam near it he was rewarded with food. Then others colors \ were d. around tubes which were pla in the tank, but when a bass investigated. these he was, given a small electric~ shock: After a few ex Dr. Brown decided: ~It is probable that largemouth bass are able to distinguish among colors in about the same manner as would a human~ being with perfectly normal vision~if he were looking through a yellowish fil = Into Boat Racing, By JUAN (Play Boy) BISCO I was all set-to leave the water front, and its many~ thrills of Outboard Cruising. The fun of water skiing, which I told you about in my last two articles, and: go onto some other subject, which does not deal with water. I have been approached by several very sincere chaps, who are dying to get into the water act, but not in outboard or water skiing. They want to know if they can get into the racing sport, and asked the question: Are we Negroes barred from this sport of kings? The answer is definitely, ~NO.~ How can I pass). up this challenge and leave these~ poor souls still in doubt. So here jo go again, down to the waters nt.: race or preparing for that long trip back home, or even in your garage work shop. Basement or spare corner in the kitchen working over you motors. Some rac propeller, ~that~s going to-add a few miles faster to his rig. I can~t tell you, Because. in outboard. there are a dozen or more classes which you can enter, each one with its tight~ clod little set of boat restrictions and motor specifications. - To learn these, and as your first step before buying your outfit, I~d strongly suggest that you write either or both of the two major rules governing bodies and buy copies: of their. rule books, which oufline in detail unch~any: is welcome whether he be white each class you can consider you want toenter.
