Mrs. Gwennola Smith Hostess To Card Party Last Tuesday evening, November 8, Mrs. Gwennola Smith chose to entertain her bridge club at the home of her daughter, Mr. Mavis Baker, 1807 Park St. Her guests were Mrs. Francis Leach, Mrs. E. C, Robinson, Mrs. Lillian Newman and Mrs. Mavis Baker. The members and guests enjoyed the evening playing pinochle and canasta, jof Detroit, The Clarenc Campebells Entertain After The Ball Was Over Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Campbell, 2034 Maybury, were responsibe for the continued jovial mood of their guests long after the Alpha Phi Alpha Formal Ball was over. Dancing and}, general merriment prevealed. The}. breakfast treat was appreciated by all. R. H. Dunning~s Sister Passes Mr. R.H. Dunning, manager of the Great Lakes Mutual Insurance Company, left~ for Alabama Monday night. He returned for a sad occaision, his sister died. Friends offer Mr. Dunning and his family their sympathy. The House of Spencer Mortuary, Inc., a new business, has been opened at 1204 Lappeer St. it was announced by J. Merrill Spencer, president. A two-story. brick house has been remodeled and redecorated for use as the funeral home. The structure has almost 1,000 square feet of floor space and the chapel has a seating capacity for 75 persons, Spencer said. Wallace, Sr. has become the first Negro to be elected to the City Council of Alexander, Ark., in the town~s history. There were no racia] issues in volved in the election ~_!, sity.
