Can you imagine, in a big city as Flint, such a thing as ~no news~. We do happen to know people are planning to attend the NAACP protest meeting, and many are looking forward to the Sportsman~s Formal | fe Ball. ~ Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Tweedie, 613 E. 8th St. have been rather busy acting as hosts to old friends last- Thursday, were Rev. and~ Mrs. Judson King now of Athens, Alabama. Rev. King is president of Trinity School in Athens. Their daughter and*son accompanied them to Flint. Rev. King is a former pastor of Congregational Church in Lexington, Kentucky. % *% * - The Worthy Matron of New Hope No. 12, OES, announced that the chapter met for the first time at the Masonic Temple, 4212 Main St., since merging with King Soloman and Queen Ester Grand Lodge. * * * > We are ~sorry to learn that Mrs. J. T. Smith, 92514 Dewey, has]- ~ been convalescing for almost a year. Mrs. Smith was in the hospital for treatment of an infected feot when she accidentally fell out of her bed and fractured her hip.. 2 # * & Mrs.*Huston Morgan, 923 Dartmouth, has been ill for three weeks, however she is home now, although still under the care of the doctor. * _ * e ~Fresh~ from a two week vacation, the Charles Cobles, 1321 Mississippi, are now ~resting. Again they really saw the country. Topeka, Kansas, Atlantic, City, N. J., Montreal, Canada and Niagara Falls, N. Y. were the larger oF ea visited. % | After entertaining rhuiadiny, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Tweedie were pleasantly surprised with a visit from relatives for the weekend. Mrs. Francis Higgins of Lexington, Kentucky, sister of Mr. Tweedie, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Hall and their son, Leroy, Jr., enjoyed the Tweedie hospitality. Mrs. Hall is the daughter of Mrs. Higgins. Mr, and Mrs. Harrison MeQueary, 613 E. 8th St., are the proud parents of a baby girl. Her name is Karen McQueary. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Leen, "32 E Newall, are back from their two week vacation. They, with their sons, Kenneth and Anthony, motored: to New Orleans, La.,,, to visit relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Napoleon Dorn, ~yolaces of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, are planning to make their home in Flint. They reside at 1180 Grace lawn. * ge Po one of the Flintites to witness the up- -set game vib bneein UM anit oni, is Mr. Wiley Thomas, 807 Black. He was guest of Atty and -John H. Thomas of Ann Arbor, Michigan. The group was thrlited over the outcome of the game. Mr.*Arthur Rawiland, 4318 Crisdman ~St, had an opportunity to see: his son over the week-end. His son; A- 3c Herman Rawland of Akron, Ohio, visited him for two days. Herman has been in the Army since August, 1955, He is stationed at Amarillo Air Force Base, Amarillo, Texas. in 2s 8 Mr. and Mrs. William Lewis of Saginaw, Mich. were guests of Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Collins, 171914 Harrison,~ last Saturday. Miss Schuyler, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George S. Dort Highway. This mark ed their second annual party. The. hall, filled to capacity, danced to the rythmic strains of the Sherman Mitchell Band.
