Joseph J, Greblunas, chaplain of the St. Columbus Council of the K. of C., recently suggested the formation of an interracial justice committee to deal with the problem. St. Columba Council, like number of other K. of C. councils, has an interracial membership, but Father Greblems said that he is in agreement. with a number of priests throughout. the: United States who find a ~definite pattern that bespeaks racial discrimination~ in man local K. of councils. In an address to the Catholic Interracial Forum here, Father Greblenas said: ~While each local council can choose its own members, neverthe less it is inconsistent with the principles of the order to reject Negroes proposed for membership, who are practical Catholies, qualified, persohable and popular, for the sole reason that they are colored,~ He called on the board to follow tht lead of Catholic bishops particularly. those in the South, who have advocated integration in Catholic institutions, These bishops, he~ said, ~want to -see|\a peaceful solution of race problems but are not afraid of repercussions.~ Father Greblenas said that one of the main functions of the proposed committee would be to educate the membership of the council to Catholic principles regarding interracial activity. We are foolish, and without excuse foolish, in speaking of the superiority of one sex to. the other, as if they could be compared in similar things! Each has what the other has not; each completes the other; they are in nothing alike; and the happiness and perfection of both depend on each asking \and receiving from the other what.the other only can) give. ~ Ruskin, _ From Jackson, Mississippi, and BEST WISHES! $ ~Flint~s Only Exclusive Luggage Store~ \ FLINT LUGGAGE STORE. 614 S.
