Our main objective is to be of PUBLIC SERVICE where ever a need is felt, and to that end we faithfully dedicate our selves.: THE STAFF OF THE BRONZE ~REPORTER CLOSE RANKS A time comes in the course of every man~s life when -he has to swallow his pride, lay aside his bitterness, and give support to a cause he has fought valiantly against. For many of our readers, that time is now. Many of us voted for candidates and issues that lost, against candidates and i issues that won. and worked We can go on _ fighting, we can sit down on the job and withhold our co- operation, or we can be adults in the situation and put forth every effort to see that those who won do the best w job that is. possible. | ' Without the wholehearted cooperation of each and every citizen in the various wards of the city,-no candidate can do a worthwhile job. It would be illogical and completely foolish for us to continue to fight the winning candidates, and expect to reap any of the gains that they ~are obligated to make available to us. Now is the time to put the campaign promises to test. There is a wrong way and a right way to go about it. We can sit back, and wait for the men in power to knock on | our doors and ask what we want, or we can point out to} them through organizations, churches, and newspapers what has to be done. | By bringing to. the attention of our united effort to see that they take action on those needs, i there-is no way for us. to fail. concentrated effort, we are giving neither ourselves nor | our elected leaders a chance for. betterment, _ er held before. Noy. 4, 1954 Editor i The Bronze Reporter 202 8. 13th St. - rust, Michigan Dear Sir: Although I live in Detroit, I was more than interested in Floyd J. McCree~s campaign for alderman. Your paper was introduced to me on 4 recent visit to Flint.. After learning of the slim margin by which Mr.. McCree ~ lost the election, I want to say that it is evident that full support was lacking from your paper, the ministers and other organizations. I~m sure with your combined influence that) Mr. McCree could have been the first Negro to be elected as city 8lderman in Flint. So why don~t all of you get together on these important steps You~ll be surprised. what you car obtain by sticking together. It~: time for Flint to begin moving. Sincerely, A former Flintite A man who knows. the world will not only make the most of everything he does know, but of many things that he does not know; and will gain more credit by his adroit mode of hiding his ignorance than by his awkward attempt to exhibit his erudition. ~ Colton. | EVINRUDE MOTORS-BOATS fLoomis Hebbies 1508 S.
