Hello Folks...

Another Memorial Week-end has passed into oblivion, people of: Flint, like people elsewhere, tokadvantage of the long week end

to participate in various activities. To many, Memorial Day was

~|truly a day to honor their beloved dead, while others were taking

short trips or entertaining friends and relatives gming in from

Miss Shirley Ann Thomas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph
Thomas, 806 Black Ave., has joined the WAFS. Miss Thomas
a Northern High graduate of ~53, is stationed at Macklin Air
Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. She writes that she is thrilled with her new life. The best of luck, Shirle;.

Attorney and Mrs. Jchn F- Young,4702 Industrial Ave., didn~t
have to worry about holiday traffic. They took advantage of their
own back yard to entertain... Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Maxey and sons,
Mrs. Helen Friley, Miss Margaret Davidson and Dr. Lawrence Miles,
formerly of Saginaw and row.a Californian,.. were guests of. the
Youngs. Dinner was served on that spacious lawn and games and |
good coversation rounded out the evening.

Miss Beverly Tomman, 2037 Ferris St., one of our lovely
teachers at Fairview, visited her parents in Pittsburg, Pa.

Mr. and Mrs. Booker Wilder, 415 E. Ninth St., were delighted -
in having guests in from the Windy City. They were Mr. and Mrs.
WwW. f. Stepp and daughter, Sharon, and Mr. Stepp~s mother, Mrs.
Jetfirey Cotton. The Wilcers and party motored to Detroit Saturday to call on old friends. Monday was an ideal day for a picnic
so~... leisure and plenty of food were in order as they enjoyed their
picnic at Spring Lake, Michigan.

_ Relatives in Chicago were hosts to Mrs. Christine~ Fisher of La- ~
peer Road, Lapeer, Mihcigan, and Mrs. Jessie Ennis, and son, Robert, ~
609 E. Kennelworth Ave., over the week end... Mrs. Charles Watters
treated her Flint visitors to sights of Chicago highspots, while Mrs.
James Hightower gave a cocktail party in the visitor~s honor.

Miss Willa Jean Junior, who is hame from Michigan State
College gave a party for the debs and beaus from both State and |. State Normal Colleges. It is reported that the deal was ~gone~~

The Get Together Club met Thursday, June 3, at 10:00 a. m.
at the home of Mrs. Melvin Banner, 1415 Broad St. The Club retained the same officers as last year with the exception of treasurer.
Mrs. Mary A. Mollay was elected treasurer..The club members drew
names for Secret Pals for the year. Plans for interesting summer
activities were made. pe
