Golden Text: Romans 8: 31 *When Elijah was borne heavenward in a thariot of fire, Elisha caught his descending. mantle. Eli | jah had left a disciple and a worthy successor he proved to be. Elisha was given better treatment by the then' king of Israel than had been accorded Elijah. Elisha took a great interest in the affairs of the country, and the king relied upon his judgment, especially concerning the constant wars that the Syrians forced upon ~Israel. More than once, Elisha saved the Israelites from some ambuscade by their enemies. Exasperated by the ~thwarting of his plans, the Syrian king suspected there was a spy in their midst. He was told that Elisha continually~ warned the king of Israel. Whereupon, inquiring the -| whereabouts of Elisha, the Syrian king sent a large host to capture the prophet and bring him to Syria. By night-the host invested the city where Elisha was and in the early dawn the servant of the | prophet rushed to tell him the news. Calmly Elisha told the servant that their forces. were more than all those arrayed against them. Then he prayed that the eyes. of the servant might be opened to see horses and chariots of fire round them. May the eyes -of all of us be opened to the presence of the heavenly host about. us when we depend upon God. Metropolitan Bavtis?. Church ~ Metropolitan ~Baptist Chureh~ opened at /11:00 a. ~m.
