Flint Pianch of the National Alliance of Postal Emdloyees. was piivilzged to host [the 22nd Annual District 6 Con vention on May 15 and 16 at the UAW-CIO Hall) located at 915 St. The 6th District comprises Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania and Michigan and was attended by more than 150 delegates and visitors. The open ~session of the Convention. which convened at &p.m. on May 15, 1954, was welcomed by W. O. nelly, Postmaster, who gave a dual address, representing the losal, ~Postal Department, and Mayor Donald Reigle.. Other notables of the local Post Office were introduced. at. this namely, Carl. Wright, President of NLCA, Samuel Chalut, expresident of the NFPC, Dr. J. L. ~Leach as a Member at Large of the 6th, District of NAPE, also grected the Delegates. The local Branch was indeed happy to have as unexpected guests many of their National Officcrs: James EB. Cobb, President; J. O. Gilliam, National Orzanizer;. W. C, Jason, Welfare Director; W. E. Frazier, Legistrative Representative; Snow F. Grisby, National Editor. The Convention was presided.over by Eugene Burton, President of the 6th District from Cincinnati, Ohio. Lewis, was. called away just.before the convention, and his) absence. was greatly felt by these who worked with him in preparation for this, their grandesti effort.~ However, it must be added. that the Vice-President, Walter Hollimion did a very com méendable~job, as did the Conven tion Chairman Abner P. Davis, jand the Local Branch was ably represented by their Delegate, Lavton L. Galloway. This ~was however a group achievement 309 part each and everyone played. Aside note of the *Convention was a cabaret styled party given Saturday night where some 300 invited guests danced to and enjoyed the music of Babe Brown and ~Combo from Detroit. Sam ~Williams added his vocal talents as did~ Leroy Maxey, drummer, formerly of Cab Calloway fame. IMMIGRATION CHIEF... Retired Lt. Gen. Joseph M.
